Car-Share System

The Car-Share System is a comprehensive application, designed for organisations (or groups of organisations) who wish to offer their employees the option of joining a scheme which will give them the opportunity to 'car-share' by matching them with other employees with the same 'profile'. The advantages of running such a scheme can apply to the employees, by saving them money and stress, the employer, by reducing the requirement for car parking and the environment, by reducing pollution and easing congestion on the roads.

The system allows you to set up a database of Members wishing to participate in a car-sharing scheme, along with details of their home address (from point), work site (to point), identifiable towns they drive through en-route to work (via points), relevant details about their work pattern e.g. start time, days worked, and any preferences they may have for Members with whom they would be prepared to share e.g. smokers (profile).

Use definable, system-wide variables and tables, used for validation and defaults, speed up the process of adding to and maintaining the database.

Once the Member database has been populated, the search and matching facilities cater for different geographically populated areas by allowing for searches to be performed from very specific 'from' points (all characters of Post Code), then widening the catchment  area by decreasing the number of characters of the post code or using town name or even county. The 'To point' can be either a specific site, or a combination of sites within a geographic area. The matching process can be further refined by utilising Member Preferences.

The system is also able to utilize mapping software which displays both member and work locations on the map, Some of the standard functions are duplicated by the graphical mapping facilities which may be used to perform the searching and matching functions, and displaying statistical data. 

The system also allows for users to be selected from the map to create ‘Pools’.

The mapping software covers the whole of the U.K. and allows zooming to display the required map area.

To keep track of members who are sharing on a regular basis, the system allows for the creation of 'Pools', which can be set up, once the matching process has identified potential sharers, and they have made arrangements to do so.

 In addition, you may want to use the system to allow Members to phone up on an ad-hoc basis, and use the on-line search and match facility to locate other  members who are potentially able to offer the occasional lift.  

A statistical screen is included, which may be used to identify the number of members in the database living in particular towns or working at a particular site.  

 The reporting sub-system provides a number of reports which can also be used for analysing the database.
